Dave’s Stack – February 15 – Unbreakable

February 15, 2017

TOP o’ My Stack

Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Ryan Ottley
INVINCIBLE is Robert Kirkman’s other comic book success story started soon after Walking Dead. Kirkman writes one of the best superhero comics ever. It celebrates all the things we love about superhero comics (team-ups, mad scientists, aliens, evil villains, etc) and adds things we don’t see (aging, permanent changes in status quo, and one writer for the entire series). Invincible is the fully-realized dream of the original Image creators: superhero comics without the rules of the big guys. One of the rules of the big guys is to keep the character going forever in the same style as it began. Kirkman breaks that rule with this story that will end the comic for good. This issue begins the last story of this series. Pick up this issue for a quarter and then, when your interest is piqued, go back to the first trade to see how it al started.

Invincible is for fans of the original Ultimate Spider-Man and Savage Dragon and other first generation Image superhero comics.

Image Comics says:
“NEW STORY ARC! “THE END OF ALL THINGS”: Part One-RYAN OTTLEY returns as “THE END OF ALL THINGS” begins. This twelve-part mega-story will touch every corner of the INVINCIBLE Universe, and when it’s over… IT’S OVER.  Every single story for the past thirteen years has been leading up to this. ALSO: THIS ISSUE IS .25 CENTS TO CELEBRATE THE 25th ANNIVERSARY OF IMAGE COMICS!”
